'Stars Aren't Worth This' is finished

I finished off Stars Aren't Worth This this week. The game has 40 levels, which sounds quite good, I reckon. The final levels I had to design where the last levels of the game, and I started to feel fairly guilty about the amount of pain I was going to subject my players to.

Then I played Super Meat Boy for the first time.

In that level, the three circular saws move from left to right, and to get the tasty star it means pulling off jumps with precision timing to avoid getting sliced up.

It probably seems a little late for me to only just be getting around to playing Super Meat Boy, especially since my game looks, and plays, quite similar. But the game is far more inspired by N Game than the game from Team Meat. Having played through to the end (without collecting all the ridiculous things) I quite enjoyed it. And if certainly soothed my guilt about this level:

The circular saws follow a rectangular path. It's probably my favourite level, because once you know the correct route the execution of jumps and wallslides is actually fairly straightforward. But it looks impressive to demo!

The annoying aspect of Flash game sponsorship is that this game won't be public on the internet for a month, maybe two months, that's just how the licensing process works.

Have a great Christmas everyone.
